On September 18, the Kremlin labeled remarks by NATO’s Jens Stoltenberg, as "dangerous." Stoltenberg previously stated that allowing Ukraine to use Western long-range weapons against Russia would not constitute a red line that would lead to escalation from Russia.

"The ostentatious desire not to take seriously the statement of the Russian president is an absolutely short-sighted and unprofessional step,” Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, commented, saying he is inclined to attribute this statement to the fact that Stoltenberg will be leaving soon. In this regard, he would not have to bear responsibility for his words, he added. "But the position is extremely provocative and dangerous," Peskov summed up.

Previously, on September 17, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that allowing Kyiv to launch long-range missile strikes deep into Russian territory would not be a red line that leads to escalation.
