Kremlin Unveils Delegation for Ukraine Peace Talks—Putin Not on the List

Russia’s delegation for the upcoming negotiations with Ukraine in Istanbul on May 15 will be led by Vladimir Medinsky, Assistant to the leader of the Russian Federation, according to an official order signed by Russian leader Vladimir Putin on May 14, TASS reported.

Putin himself will not attend the talks.

The order formalizes the delegation’s composition, which includes key figures such as Mikhail Galuzin, Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Igor Kostyukov, Head of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, and Alexander Fomin, Deputy Minister of Defense.

In addition to the delegation, a group of “experts” has been appointed to support the negotiations.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy outlined plans to meet Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and confirmed new sanctions targeting Russia’s banking and energy sectors during a May 13 press briefing.
