Latvia to Transfer 1,000 Combat Drones to Ukraine
Latvia has prepared over 1,000 various types of drones for transfer to Ukraine, according to a statement by Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds on December 28.
“Together with Latvian drone manufacturers, we continue to support Ukraine. The latest shipment, consisting of more than 1,000 combat drones of various types, has been prepared,” wrote Spruds on his official account on X. “The Drone Coalition is led by Latvia and Great Britain. In 2025, Latvia will allocate another €20 million for drone procurement within the coalition framework.”
Latvia is a central player in the international drone coalition formed to support Ukraine. Co-led by Latvia and the United Kingdom, the coalition focuses on supplying vital aerial technology to Ukrainian forces.
Acknowledging the crucial role of drones in modern warfare, Latvia has committed €20 million to the coalition this year, with more than €10 million allocated for the purchase of drones from Latvian manufacturers.
On July 22, Latvia provided military aid to Ukraine in the form of hundreds of drones.
