Latvia Delivers a Batch of 500 Drones to Ukraine
Latvia has provided further military aid to Ukraine in the form of hundreds of drones, according to Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds.
This latest shipment follows an earlier announcement in July, where Latvia pledged to deliver over 2,500 combat drones to Ukraine throughout the month. The total cost is estimated at €4 million.
“A shipment of more than 500 drones begins its journey to Ukraine,” Spruds announced on social media. This likely represents the second batch of drones promised by Latvia, with an initial 300 having arrived shortly after the initial commitment.
Latvia plays a key role in the international drone coalition established to support Ukraine. The coalition, co-led by Latvia and the United Kingdom, aims to provide much-needed aerial technology to Ukrainian forces. Recognizing the critical role drones play on the battlefield, Latvia has pledged €20 million to the coalition this year, with over €10 million earmarked for purchasing drones directly from Latvian manufacturers.
