On Tuesday, July 2, Lithuania's foreign ministry stated it lodged a diplomatic protest against Russia following an unauthorized entry of a Russian civilian aircraft into its airspace.

The incident happened on June 30, when Pobeda airline aircraft entered Lithuanian airspace over the Baltic Sea for about one minute on its way from Moscow’s Vnukovo airport to Kaliningrad airport.

The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry demanded the Russian diplomats "provide an explanation as soon as possible and take all necessary measures to prevent such incidents from happening in the future."

This is not the first occurrence of this kind on behalf of Russia. On June 14 a Russian Su-24 bomber violated Swedish airspace flying near the strategic Baltic Sea island of Gotland.

In recent months, Russia has been accused several times of jamming GPS signals, putting threat to international flights.
