In Lithuania, customs authorities are intensifying control over packages on trains coming from Russia to prevent the transportation of items intended for the Russian armed forces.

This was reported by Delfi, citing the Customs Criminal Service.

Lithuanian customs officers have begun actively using mobile handheld scanners to inspect mail cars coming from the Kaliningrad region. These scanners are used to check both packages and the cars themselves.

Other inspection methods are also being employed, and further measures to enhance control are planned.

This response comes amid ongoing attempts to transport military goods from the Kaliningrad region of Russia by train, primarily camouflage uniforms or their components, and camouflage nets for military equipment.

In less than a month, Lithuania has intercepted six shipments containing such cargo. The confiscated goods are being transferred to Ukraine by Lithuanian customs.

It was reported on October 23 that two Lithuanian citizens who fought for Russia in its war against Ukraine have had their Lithuanian citizenship revoked.
