Lithuania Prepares for Potential Russian Offensive Against NATO by 2030, President Nausėda Says

Lithuania is preparing for the possibility of a Russian offensive against NATO countries by 2030, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda said on March 20, in Brussels, ahead of a European Council meeting, Censor.NET reported.
A journalist noted that many politicians and experts are predicting that Russia could attack a NATO member state by 2030 and asked Nausėda whether he considers this forecast realistic.
“This is exactly the basic assumption we made in Lithuania because we have a very ambitious goal to create a national unit, to fully equip it to create all the necessary infrastructure by 2030,” Nausėda answered.
Lithuanian President noted that if sanctions against Russia are lifted, Lithuania will have even less time to prepare its forces for defense in the event of a Russian attack.
“So, according to our calculations, if the scenario is like this, we have about 4-5 years left. If sanctions are lifted, we have even less time to prepare for the next stage of aggression. So, the situation is serious, but I think we have all the means to cope, make decisions, and prepare for the next stage of aggression.”
On January 22, a warning was issued by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, where she stated that according to European intelligence assessments, Russia may test the European Union’s defense capabilities within the next 3-5 years.
