Majority of Europeans Support Increased Military Aid to Ukraine, Survey Finds
A majority of Europeans support increased military assistance to Ukraine, despite differing views in several countries, according to a survey commissioned by the European Council on Foreign Relations across 15 countries, including Ukraine.
In most countries surveyed, over 50% of respondents (or a larger share compared to other response options) favor increasing arms and ammunition supplies to Ukraine, providing a basis for corresponding decisions by their leaders.
Opposing sentiments prevail only in three EU countries — Greece, Bulgaria, and Italy. In these states, the largest proportion believes that Western partners should encourage Ukraine towards peaceful negotiations.
Simultaneously, an overwhelming majority across all countries oppose the potential deployment of their military personnel to Ukraine for combat operations.
In most surveyed nations, there is an expectation that the war will conclude through peaceful agreements. However, belief in Ukraine’s victory surpasses that in only one country, besides Ukraine itself.
Additionally, most respondents from the surveyed countries believe the war will end through peaceful negotiations.
