Merry Kidsmas: UNITED24 Launches Fundraiser to Modernize Kindergarten Shelters in Frontline Ukraine
Ukraine’s official fundraising platform, UNITED24, has launched a new initiative aimed at raising $500,000 to modernize 61 kindergarten shelters near the frontline regions, such as Khakiv and Zaporizhzhia.

The funds will be used to purchase modern furniture and educational equipment, providing preschoolers with safer, warmer, and more comfortable spaces to learn.
The need for this project is urgent, especially in the Zaporizhzhia region, where around 16,000 children attend kindergartens, 500 of whom attend daily. A total of 43 educational facilities in this region are in need of renovation.

Similarly, in the Kharkiv region, approximately 15,600 children receive kindergarten education, with over 2,300 attending in a mixed format. Eighteen facilities in the region also require significant upgrades.
These upgrades aim to provide a safer and more comfortable space for young children, allowing them to continue their early education despite the challenges of the ongoing war.
“In Ukraine’s frontline regions, more than 80% of young children experience delays in social and emotional development due to constant stress and limited in-person learning. Ensuring safe access to preschool and outfitting more shelters is a crucial step in ensuring every child can learn and develop, even during the war,” said Yevhen Kudriavets, First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Each renovated shelter offers children a chance to experience their early years in as much safety as possible while receiving a quality preschool education. This fundraiser provides an opportunity to support thousands of Ukrainian children during this difficult time.
