Moldova decided to shut down the Russian Cultural Center in response to Russian drones violating its airspace, the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on February 13.

The Moldovan government summoned the head of Russia’s diplomatic mission in Chișinău following the latest incident of Russian UAVs entering its airspace and crashing on Moldovan territory.

Moldovan officials presented fragments of the downed drones to the Russian envoy, emphasizing that such actions constitute a breach of national sovereignty and represent another hostile move by Moscow.

“In response to these challenges, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to unilaterally terminate the Moldova-Russia intergovernmental agreement on the creation and operation of cultural centers, signed in 1998.

Once the termination procedures are complete, the Russian Cultural Center will cease operations in Moldova,” the ministry stated.

Earlier, Moldovan police discovered two drones on the country’s territory following Russia’s massive attack on Ukraine on the night of February 13.
