NATO and US Urge Greece to Sell Mirage 2000 Jets to Ukraine for Military Aid

Greece is under increasing pressure from NATO and EU allies to provide substantial military aid to Ukraine, particularly through the sale of some of its Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets, Greek outlet Kathimerini reported on October 2.
The US, France, and Eastern European countries have pushed Athens to contribute more than just outdated systems like its 60 M-110 howitzers, which have been in service since the 1960s.
The US has been urging Greece to adopt more modern weapons systems through the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative, which has been supported mainly by Baltic and Scandinavian nations, Kathimerini writes.

Greece is reportedly considering selling its Mirage 2000-5 jets to intermediaries like France, Germany, and the Czech Republic, with these countries potentially reselling them to Ukraine, according to Kathimerini.
Although Greece is in talks with France to acquire additional Rafale jets, discussions about selling its older Mirage 2000-5s to India and Balkan countries have stalled.
Kathimerini stated that Greece is negotiating with France to acquire 6-12 more Rafales, seeking a discounted price in exchange for selling some of its Mirage 2000-5 fighters.
Previously, it was reported taht NATO had confirmed that four aid packages under the PURL program have been financed, with two already on their way to Ukraine.
