NATO Secretary General to Hold Emergency NATO-Ukraine Council Meeting
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will convene a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council on Wednesday, August 28, at Ukraine's request.
This was announced by the Secretary General’s spokesperson, Farah Dakhala.
The meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council will be held at the level of permanent representatives.
"Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umierov is expected to brief Alliance members via video on the current battlefield situation and the priority needs for forces and resources," she added.
The spokesperson emphasized that the meeting comes in response to a recent wave of Russian strikes on Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure.
"NATO members have provided significant support to Ukraine's air defense and are committed to further strengthening Ukraine's defense," assured the Alliance's representative.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, on August 26, Russia launched 236 aerial attack assets at Ukraine. Ukraine’s air defense successfully intercepted 102 missiles and 99 strike drones.
