Ukraine's Coal Reserves Hit Record High of Over 3 Million Tons, Says PM Shmyhal
Coal reserves at storage facilities exceed 3 million tons, marking one of the highest levels in Ukraine’s history. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during the government’s question hour in parliament.
“Today, we have more than three million tons of coal in storage—this is the highest historical figure, I believe, if not in all of history, then certainly in the last 20 years,” he stated.
According to Shmyhal, at the moment, the Russians have destroyed and damaged a significant part of coal generation.
On January 9, the White House called Ukraine’s decision to terminate the transit of Russian gas one of Moscow’s “most costly defeats” and assured allies that the United States is working to increase energy supplies to Europe.
