The Dutch and Danish governments announced today their plans to deliver 14 refurbished Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine before the end of summer.

“The Leopard 2A4 tanks can help Ukraine gain the upper hand on the battlefield,” according to a statement. “It has large firepower, offers good protection to its crew and is fast.”

The tanks, purchased last year and overhauled by German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall, have undergone extensive testing and are now ready for deployment. The Dutch defense ministry stated that these powerful and well-protected tanks will significantly bolster Ukraine’s military capabilities.

Earlier, Rheinmetall announced it would produce an innovative vehicle combining Rheinmetall’s advanced Skyranger anti-aircraft system with the hulls of Cold War-era Leopard 1 tanks, significantly enhancing Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

Denmark became the first NATO ally to invest in Ukrainian arms production.
