“Russia must stop stalling and launching its attacks. It’s time for Russia to come to the table in good faith,” Carney stated.
As part of commitments made by the G7, Canada will strengthen enforcement measures to ensure compliance with sanctions imposed on Russia. Carney emphasized that these steps are intended to reinforce existing restrictions and enhance their effectiveness.
“Canada is Ukraine’s steadfast ally. We will make sure Ukraine has the military support it needs to defend itself — now and into the future,” the prime minister concluded.
Earlier, Canada announced its readiness to deploy troops as part of a UK-France-led international peacekeeping force for Ukraine, Defense Minister Bill Blair stated at a defense conference in Ottawa.
