New Group of Ukrainian Children Freed from Russian Occupation, Says Presidential Office

Ukraine has returned another group of children from Russian-occupied territory as part of the Bring Kids Back UA initiative.
This was announced by Head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak via Telegram on August 13.
Yermak said the group includes a boy whose mother was killed and whose father lost both legs in a drone strike. It also includes a sister and two brothers whose guardians were threatened with having the children taken away for refusing Russian documents.
Among them are teenagers who defiantly sang the banned Ukrainian anthem while attending a Russian school. There is also a family that lived on a mined street under constant threat of death.

Some of the children have now been reunited with their parents after almost three years of separation.
“I thank Save Ukraine and all partners for helping bring the children home. We are carrying out the President’s mission—to return every child,” Yermak said.
Earlier, Ukrainian law enforcement completed its investigation into the abduction of children by Russian occupation forces from the Novopetrivka Special School in the Mykolaiv region. The collected evidence will be presented in cases before Ukrainian courts as well as international judicial bodies.
