At the latest Ramstein-format meeting in Brussels on April 11, a new “coalition of capabilities” was established to bolster Ukraine’s electronic warfare (EW) efforts.

According to Germany’s Ministry of Defense, the coalition includes Germany and ten other partner nations. It becomes the ninth such capability coalition formed to coordinate international military support for Ukraine.

The Electronic Warfare Coalition will focus on three key areas:

  • Procurement of EW equipment

  • Training and development of EW specialists

  • Policy and doctrine development in the field of electronic warfare

“The knowledge gained will also contribute to the further development of the Bundeswehr’s own capabilities,” Germany’s Defense Ministry noted.

The ministry emphasized that electronic warfare skills are essential for protecting soldiers’ lives, infrastructure, equipment, and civilians in modern war zones.

“Control of the electromagnetic spectrum is critical for effective combat operations today, especially when it comes to the use and protection of drones,” the ministry’s statement read.

The broader agenda of the Ramstein meeting includes strengthening Ukraine’s air defense, expanding weapons deliveries, and advancing defense-industrial cooperation.

Earlier, the United Kingdom and Norway announced a joint military aid package for Ukraine worth £450 million (around $589 million) during the Ramstein meeting, according to Bloomberg, citing the UK Ministry of Defense.
