Nordic, Baltic Nations and Poland Issue Joint Statement Supporting Ukraine’s Victory Plan
The Heads of Government from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Norway, Poland, and Sweden convened in Harpsund, Sweden, on November 27 to address regional security challenges.
The leaders issued a joint statement reaffirming their collective commitment to Euro-Atlantic security and continued support for Ukraine amid ongoing Russian aggression.
The statement emphasized the shared perception of security threats and the importance of transatlantic unity. It underlined the group’s determination to enhance their efforts to safeguard the region, stating that “the transatlantic bond is indispensable, and we will increase our collective efforts to keep ourselves and all our Allies safe.”
The leaders pledged to strengthen military assistance to Ukraine, noting their countries' status as the largest per-capita contributors of military aid. They committed to further supporting Ukraine’s defense industry, including investments in ammunition production. This support, they stated, is integral to ensuring Ukraine’s ability to defend itself and achieve a lasting peace.
Additionally, the joint statement expressed full backing for the Ukrainian Victory Plan, reiterating the leaders’ commitment to a comprehensive and just resolution to the war and Ukraine’s integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures.
The leaders identified Russia as the most significant long-term security threat, highlighting its illegal war of aggression and use of hybrid actions as destabilizing forces in the Euro-Atlantic area.
They pledged to work together to counter these threats and ensure accountability for Russia’s actions, including expanding sanctions on those enabling its aggression.
In collaboration with their Allies, the countries will also focus on strengthening deterrence and defense mechanisms against conventional and hybrid attacks, emphasizing resilience and stability in the region.
