Norway Hosts “War Diaries” Exhibition Showcasing Voices of Ukrainian Children Amid Russia’s Invasion

An exhibition titled “War Diaries: Unheard Voices of Ukrainian Children” has opened in Lillehammer, Norway, featuring diaries, notes, drawings, and personal belongings that share the personal wartime experiences of children from across Ukraine.
The Embassy of Ukraine in Norway reported the opening on Facebook on June 4.
Ukrainian Ambassador to Norway Oleksiy Gavrysh attended the event, stating: “his exhibition is not about politics. It is not even about war in the conventional sense. It is about the truth. It is about children whose lives have been irrevocably altered due to the brutal and unprovoked Russian invasion that has destroyed their homes, schools, families, and childhood itself.”

The exhibition is part of the World Expression Forum, dedicated to promoting freedom of speech. It has become a platform for amplifying the voices of Ukrainian children and sharing the human cost of Russia’s war.
As part of the program, attendees also viewed a short film about Mariupol, directed by Vladyslav Ponomarenko—one of the contributors to the War Diaries project.
Earlier, the Estonian Parliament had opened a photo exhibition “Mama,” organized by the Free Mariupol Association in cooperation with the Open Estonia Foundation.
The exhibition presents portraits of Ukrainian women who have lost their sons during Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
