Norway to Allocate €240 Million for Air Defense for Ukraine
The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the allocation of 240 million euros ($258 million) for Ukraine’s air defense measures.
The Ministry’s social media account stated: “Norway will allocate 240 million euros ($258 million) for air defense measures for Ukraine. Today, Germany confirmed that, together with Norway, Denmark, and the Netherlands, they will finance the repurchase of the Patriot system, enabling 100 Patriot missiles to be quickly transferred to Ukraine. Norway will allocate 125 million euros ($134,5 million) for this cooperation.”
On May 31, 2024, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Haar Stere signed the Agreement on cooperation in the field of security and long-term support in Stockholm.
Earlier today, US officials confirmed that the United States will send another Patriot air defense system to Ukraine. President Biden has approved the deployment of an additional Patriot missile battery to Ukraine. This decision is made in the context of Ukraine’s efforts to defend itself against Russian assaults targeting its civilian and energy infrastructure.
