Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk recently commented on the possibility of upcoming decisions from the United States regarding Russia’s war against Ukraine, including potential ceasefire terms.

In response, Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed the country’s stance that decisions about Ukraine’s future must not exclude Ukrainian input, emphasizing the principle “nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine.”

According to Polish media, Tusk referenced discussions in the United States about a “peace plan” reportedly being drafted by former US President Donald Trump. Tusk suggested this plan, although preliminary, could soon prompt a US declaration on several significant matters, including a proposed ceasefire timeline, the specifics of the ceasefire line, and security assurances for Ukraine.

Tusk also noted that decisions on the war should not be made without consulting both Ukraine and Poland.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, through spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi, expressed appreciation for Poland’s commitment to respecting Ukraine’s sovereignty in matters concerning peace negotiations.

Tykhyi reiterated that Ukraine alone would determine the terms of any peace settlement, as the war takes place on Ukrainian soil. He added that it remains in the interest of all peace-loving nations to see an end to Russian aggression in line with Ukraine’s territorial integrity, international law, and the United Nations Charter.
