Oleksandr Bondarev Becomes First Ukrainian to Win F1 GP Trophy Race in Abu Dhabi

A 16-year-old Ukrainian driver Oleksandr Bondarev claimed victory in both races of the second round of the F1 GP Trophy in Abu Dhabi, marking a historic milestone as the first Ukrainian to win at this level.
According to Suspilne Sport on December 7, Bondarev began the second stage with a dominant performance. Competing for the Prema team, he secured pole position and maintained the lead throughout the race, taking the checkered flag first.

The second race of the Abu Dhabi round, held during the final Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend of the season, also saw Bondarev start from pole. He went on to secure another convincing win, which he dedicated to Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
“Once again, the Ukrainian anthem rang out over the Abu Dhabi podium. Dear defenders, this victory is for you,” Bondarev wrote on Facebook.

As reported by Suspine Sport, tis success makes him the first Ukrainian driver ever to record a race win in an F1 GP Trophy championship round.
Earlier, Oleksandr Bondarev, competing for Prema Racing, celebrated his maiden win in the Italian Formula 4 Championship after triumphing in the third race of the fifth round at Imola.
Starting from pole on August 1 after a strong qualifying performance, Bondarev initially slipped behind teammate Kimu Nakamura-Berta. However, he reclaimed the lead with three minutes remaining and maintained it to the checkered flag.
