15-Year-Old Ukrainian Figure Skater Yehor Kurtsev Wins Gold at Bosphorus Cup in Istanbul

Ukrainian figure skater Yehor Kurtsev has won gold at the international Bosphorus Cup in Istanbul, Turkey. Competing in the junior men’s singles, the 15-year-old athlete, coached by Olha Kurovska, delivered his strongest performance of the season with a total score of 204.25 points.
This was reported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine via Facebook on November 30.

Kurtsev led the competition after the short program with 72.42 points and secured the top spot in the free skate as well, earning 131.83 points. His combined scores placed him firmly in first position overall.
At the same time, Ukrainian para dancer Ivan Sivak has claimed three world titles at the Para Dance Sport World Championships in Košice, Slovakia, earning gold medals in three separate events. He and Olena Dankevych won the Combi Latin Class 2 category, while Sivak also took top honors in both Freestyle and Men’s Singles—the first time Ukraine has achieved gold in these disciplines.

Out of the seven competing pairs, Ivan Sivak and Olena Dankevych placed first—marking Ukraine’s first-ever world championship gold in this category.
Sivak also captured two additional golds in the individual disciplines, winning both the Freestyle and the Men’s Singles events.
Earlier, the International Fencing Federation published the roster of athletes approved to compete at the World Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia—and it included “neutral” entrants from Russia and Belarus.
One of those listed is Sofya Velikaya, a major in the Russian Armed Forces who also served as a trusted representative for Vladimir Putin during Russia’s 2024 presidential election.
