Military representatives from more than 30 countries will meet in Paris on March 11 to discuss the establishment of international security forces for Ukraine. The initiative aims to deter potential Russian aggression in the event of a ceasefire.

According to Sky News, a representative of the French military stated that the discussions would include participants from Asia and Oceania, joining remotely.

“The international composition of the meeting highlights the extent to which France and the United Kingdom are seeking broad support for a coalition of states that would ensure Ukraine’s security should active hostilities cease,” a French diplomat told the outlet.

The proposed peacekeeping initiative was introduced by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who suggested deploying 30,000 troops from European nations in the event of a ceasefire. He emphasized that “the UK is prepared to back this with boots on the ground and planes in the air, together with others,” calling on Europe to take the lead in ensuring stability in the region.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for the establishment of a unified European military force, emphasizing at the Munich Security Conference that Europe must build its own army to ensure its security independently. He also warned that Russian troops, expected to be deployed to Belarus under the pretext of military exercises, could be used for an attack on a European country.
