Over 640 Russian Drones Targeted Ukraine in September
In the first half of September, Russian forces deployed over 640 "Shahed" strike drones targeting Ukrainian cities and villages, according to a report from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“In the first half of September alone, Russian terrorists used over 640 “Shahed” drones against Ukrainian cities and villages. Fortunately, most of them were shot down by our warriors,” Zelenskyy stated in his X.
“We are continuously working to make Ukraine’s air shield more effective, strengthening our Air Force, mobile fire groups, and all air defense units. Last night, the Russian army launched 56 “Shahed” drones, 53 of which were shot down. Our defenders of the skies worked effectively across many regions,” the President said.
“I thank each and every warrior for their precision,” Zelenskyy concluded.
Overnight on September 16, Ukrainian air defense units repelled a large Russian drone assault on Kyiv. Serhii Popko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, reported that nearly 20 UAVs were intercepted in the capital’s airspace by Ukrainian forces.
