Russia Launches 8th Massive Drone Attack on Kyiv in September, Injuring 1 and Damaging Homes
Ukrainian air defense units repelled a massive Russian drone attack on Kyiv on the night of September 16. According to Serhiy Popko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, the Ukrainian air defense forces intercepted nearly 20 UAVs in the capital’s airspace.
In the Kyiv region, the drone strike left a woman injured by falling debris and was hospitalized. Additionally, five cars and five private homes were reported damaged, with broken doors, windows, and damage to facades and roofs.
Fires also broke out in the grass and forest areas of four districts, but all were extinguished.
This marked the eighth Russian air attack on Kyiv in the first half of September alone.
An air raid alert was issued around 2 a.m. and lasted for approximately three and a half hours. Russian drones approached Kyiv from multiple directions and in several groups.
Overall, 53 Shahed drones were downed during the night in different parts of Ukraine.
