An owl has been recorded striking down a Russian quadcopter over Ukraine’s Donetsk region, according to Censor.NET on November 10.

The video, shared by the Ukrainian Telegram channel, captures the bird abruptly changing its flight path, approaching the Russian drone midair, and hitting it with its wings. Moments later, the drone crashes to the ground while the owl flies away unharmed.

According to Censor.NET, the incident occurred at night and was captured by the drone’s own camera before it lost control.

The footage has since circulated widely across Ukrainian social media, drawing attention for its unusual nature amid ongoing reports of drone warfare in the region.

Ukrainian forces have increasingly documented encounters involving both military and environmental factors affecting Russian drones, though such animal interference remains extremely rare.

Earlier, Russian forces were documented using animal carcasses as improvised explosive devices, concealing charges inside the bodies of wild animals and dropping them via drones to mine terrain or strike specific targets.

Analysts noted that the use of organic material complicates detection by conventional means and poses increased risks to personnel. This tactic followed previous reports of booby traps planted in abandoned equipment and even the bodies of Russian soldiers to hinder Ukrainian advances.
