Poland Could Close the Sky Over Western Ukraine, but It Requires Political Will

Poland has long-range Patriot air defense systems, so it could technically close the sky over the western regions of Ukraine. However, this requires political will.

This was stated by the spokesman of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Illia Yevlash, on the air of the national telethon “United News”.

According to Yevlash, there have already been talks about Poland’s ability to close the sky in the western regions of Ukraine, which would allow the Ukrainian military to relocate the stations from the west of Ukraine to other directions.

“Of course, theoretically and technically, this is possible, since Poland has long-range air defense systems, in particular the Patriot systems. However, this requires political will, and this is more a conversation of our diplomatic corps and the top military leadership, who can negotiate about this,” noted Yevlash.

The spokesman added that such a decision would make life easier for the Ukrainian Air Force.

“We could use scarce systems to fight tactical aviation, guided missiles, and cruise missiles. Of course, this would be very useful for us,” Illia Yevlash explained.

Previously, the Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk stated that on the night of April 27, one of the Russian missiles that attacked Ukraine fell 15 km from the border with Poland.
