Poland Pledges New €100 Million Aid Package to Boost Ukraine’s Defense
Poland will allocate a new $105 million (€100 million) aid package to Ukraine, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced during a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Lviv on December 17.
“This will be approximately €100 million in donations as part of the 45th aid package,” Tusk said, adding that the assistance is expected to arrive in January next year and will include some military equipment.
The Polish PM emphasized the challenges Poland faces due to its proximity to the war zone.
“We cannot provide everything. In some sense, we are also a frontline state. Poland is increasingly the target of sabotage and subversive activities directly aimed at our citizens and our country,” Tusk noted.
He also revealed that Poland is preparing a project to equip Ukrainian brigades, further strengthening Ukraine’s defensive capabilities.
Earlier, Polish Foreign Minister, Radosław Sikorski, stated that Russia–as the aggressor in its war against Ukraine–should be compelled to participate in future peace negotiations, rather than Ukraine.
