US President Donald Trump expressed his readiness to meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin as soon as possible to negotiate an end to the ongoing war in Ukraine. Trump made the statement speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos on January 23.

“I really would like to be able to meet with Putin soon to get that war ended,” Trump said. “And that’s not from the standpoint of economy or anything else. It’s from the standpoint of millions of lives being wasted. It’s a carnage, and we really have to stop that war,” Trump said.

Speaking later that day at the White House, he reiterated his urgency to meet with Putin and described the ongoing Russia’s war against Ukraine as a 'ridiculous war.'"

“From what I hear, Putin would like to see me, and we'll leave as soon as we can. I'd meet immediately,” Trump stated.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump stated during the World Economic Forum that he would ask Saudi Arabia and OPEC to lower oil prices, expressing surprise that such a move hadn’t been made before the US elections in November.

On January 21, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, reaffirmed his determination to end Russia’s war in 2025. He emphasized the importance of achieving peace in a manner that ensures safety and stability for the Ukrainian people.
