President Zelenskyy Arrives at Davos Forum as Global Leaders Discuss AI and Diplomacy
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived in Switzerland. Today, he will deliver a special address at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.
Meanwhile, former US President Donald Trump will participate remotely, delivering an online speech on Thursday, January 23.
The WEF, officially opened on Monday, January 20, and will feature speeches from European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang. Argentine President Javier Milei is also expected to attend.
This year’s Forum will include high-profile discussions on global conflicts, with representatives from the Middle East, including Syria’s de facto Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaybani, Israeli President Isaac Herzog, and potentially a Palestinian delegate. Officials from Gulf States and Iran are also expected to participate.
Key topics on the agenda include artificial intelligence, its regulation, and the role of tech giants like Meta and TikTok. The event will host several hundred business representatives alongside global political leaders.
In Switzerland, all cabinet ministers except Albert Rösti will attend, with confirmed high-level meetings, including one between Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter and Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang.
Switzerland has signaled its readiness to host a high-level meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin, contingent on a formal request from both parties, according to Nicolas Bideau, spokesperson for the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
