Russian leader Vladimir Putin has approved Russia's updated nuclear doctrine, Russian media reported on November 19.

According to the updated Fundamentals of State Nuclear Deterrence Policy, Russia reserves the right to use nuclear weapons in response to the use of weapons of mass destruction against itself or its allies, as well as in the event of aggression against it or Belarus involving conventional weapons.

Additionally, aggression by any country from a military alliance against Russia will be considered as aggression by the entire bloc.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that the use of Western non-nuclear missiles by Ukraine against Russia could trigger a nuclear response.

Previously On September 25, Putin announced expanded conditions to Russia's nuclear deterrence doctrine during the meeting of Russia’s Security Council.
