Russian leader Vladimir Putin has ordered the acceleration of drone development in Russia, with a focus on creating an identification system, simplifying airspace regulations, expanding legal frameworks, and establishing effective government oversight in the sector.

By 2030, Russia aims to achieve technological leadership in drone technology and present its advancements at an international forum in September 2030. The plan also includes funding for satellite constellations to monitor drone activities.

Waltz noted that discussions between US President Donald Trump and Putin covered topics such as a potential Ukraine-Russia ceasefire and a prisoner exchange. Speaking to Fox News, Waltz underscored the need for a “trust but verify” approach in negotiations with Moscow.
