A rare Russian reconnaissance drone, known as the 'Takhion, ' has been destroyed over the Kharkiv region by the Ukrainian Forces using their FPV interceptor.

The 'Takhion, ' a small electric unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) used primarily for reconnaissance and target designation, was recently shot down by Ukrainian forces. The drone was taken out over the Kharkiv region by the KRKN FPV COMPANY, known for their expertise in operating first-person view (FPV) interceptors.

According to reports from the KRKN FPV COMPANY, their team successfully intercepted and destroyed the 'Takhion' using an FPV drone.

The 'Takhion' is a sophisticated UAV developed by Russia’s Izhmash — Unmanned Systems and was first introduced in January 2015. It is designed for day and night operations, including reconnaissance, fire adjustment, and damage assessment. It operates both in visible and infrared wavelengths and can also serve as a communication relay. The drone features a flying wing design, a retractable parachute landing system, and uses compressed hydrogen fuel cells. It has a maximum flight speed of 120 km/h, an operational altitude of up to 4000 meters, and a flight duration of up to two hours.

The 'Takhion' drone has been part of Russia’s military arsenal since early 2016 and has seen operational use in various capacities, including in the war in Ukraine.
