Robotic Dogs Are Reportedly Being Used in Combat on Ukrainian Frontlines

In recent years, robotics technology has made significant advances, and one of the most striking examples is the robotic dog. These devices, equipped with numerous functions, are already being used effectively in various armies around the world.

Soldiers from the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade of Ukraine have showcased the use of a robotic dog directly on the front line through social media.

Previously, robotic dogs were used in Western armies for tasks such as guarding airfields and military bases. However, the Ukrainian army may be the first to deploy robotic dogs in combat conditions directly on the front line. In one of the Ukrainian villages threatened by Russian forces, robotic dogs were used as scouts. This allowed the soldiers to safely conduct reconnaissance, minimizing the risk of coming under enemy fire during street battles.

The robotic dog in use possesses advanced technological features that make it especially suitable for such tasks. It has high mobility due to its four-legged design, allowing it to overcome various obstacles and operate on uneven surfaces. Its balance system ensures stability, while advanced sensors and cameras enable it to accurately perceive its surroundings and avoid obstacles.

Equipped with a powerful computing system, the robot dog is capable of functioning in challenging conditions thanks to its high resistance to external factors. Its capabilities include patrolling, data collection, cargo delivery, and even performing surveillance and guard duties.

Robotic Dogs in the United States

In the United States, robotic dogs are also finding their applications in the military sphere. For example, the recently introduced robot dog is equipped with a flamethrower. This robot is designed for remote operation and can be used to attack enemy trenches, providing safe task execution for the operator. Robot fitted with a laser sight and LiDAR, represents an advanced example of combining robotics with firepower.

Weighing around 17 kg, the Thermonator robot dog is equipped with a compact ARC flamethrower and can operate autonomously or under remote control via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. It is capable of overcoming various obstacles and working in complex conditions, including forested and snowy terrains.

Additionally, in the US, there are ongoing tests of robotic dogs with grenade launcher systems, showcasing potential technological advancements in this area. However, it is important to note that the use of robotic dogs with weapons, including grenade launchers and flamethrowers, is still in the development and testing phase.
