A Russian drone may have briefly entered the airspace of Romania for less than 3 minutes during an overnight attack on Ukraine.

This was reported by Reuters on Friday, September 27, citing the Romanian Defense Ministry.

On September 27, Russian forces attacked the Ukrainian city of Izmail across the Danube River from Romania with drones, killing 3 people and injuring 11, including a child.

"Romania's radar system has identified the possibility that one of the drones involved in the attack on Ukraine intersected Romanian air space for a very brief period of under three minutes in... the border area," the Romanian Ministry said.

Romania deployed 2 F-16 fighter jets along with 2 Spanish F-18s. Residents in Tulcea County, located in southeastern Romania, were advised to seek shelter.

Earlier during the month, on the night of September 7–8, Russian attack drones crossed into Romanian airspace.
