Spanish pop singer Rosalía revealed that her forthcoming album, Lux, includes songs performed in 13 languages, among them Ukrainian.

She shared this exciting news during an interview with Popcast on October 30.

The tracklist for Lux features lyrics spanning a wide linguistic spectrum, incorporating Spanish, Catalan, English, Latin, Sicilian, Ukrainian, Arabic, German, and several others.

The singer dedicated over two years to the project, with a substantial amount of time focused on the intense process of learning how to write and convincingly perform in these diverse languages.

“It`s a lot of trying to understand how other languages work. It`s a lot of intuition also and trying to be like: Okay, I’m going to just write and let’s see how this will sound in another language. Google Translate — and let’s see how this word is said. Okay, let me check with somebody who actually is a translator. If I rhyme this with that, will it make sense? No, it actually doens’t make sense. Let me rephrase it. Constant back and forth for enire yeasr just dedicated on lyrics,” the singer said.

Rosalía assured listeners that she pieced her songs together “as puzzles or a labyrinth” entirely without the use of artificial intelligence. According to her, a choice to create an album using multiple languages stemmed from a core motivation of love, intellectual curiosity, and a deep-seated wish to achieve a better comprehension of different people and cultures.

Earlier, it was reported that three Ukrainian artists—Korolova, Artbat, and Miss Monique—have earned a spot on the prestigious annual list of the world’s Top 100 DJs.
