Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement between their countries on January 17 in Moscow.

“Your visit today holds special significance, as it not only provides an opportunity to discuss all areas of our cooperation but also to sign a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement between Russia and Iran,” Putin stated.

Pezeshkian conveyed a message to Putin from Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

“I met with the Supreme Leader, and he extended especially warm wishes to you. He emphasized the importance of strengthening and expanding our relations with Russia, a brotherly and friendly nation,” the Iranian President said.

It was previously reported that Iran and Russia are preparing to sign a strategic partnership agreement aimed at deepening cooperation across critical sectors, including defense, energy, and “acute issues on the regional and international agenda.”

On January 13, a report revealed that Iran has been conducting secret diplomatic missions to Russia to enhance its military and defense capabilities.
