A photo showing a Ukrainian soldier with his head severed has been circulated online by Russian information sources on February 3. The soldier’s identity has been confirmed, and law enforcement authorities have been notified.
This was reported by Artur Dobroserdov, the Commissioner for Persons Missing in Special Circumstances. "We urge you to refrain from spreading unverified information and trust only official sources of information," said Dobroserdov.
The National Police of Ukraine has been provided with information to reach out to the soldier's family and carry out investigative actions to determine the circumstances, the location of the body, and other relevant details.
The Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office has also been informed of yet another violation of international humanitarian law by Russia.
The UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights has confirmed an increasing number of executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russian forces.
At least 79 cases have been documented since late August 2024, according to Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha. He called for urgent international attention and response to what he described as one of the largest campaigns of intentional POW killings in modern history.
