Russia Drops 500-Kilogram Bomb on Dobropillia Shopping Centre, Killing Four, Wounding 27

On July 16, 2025, Russian forces targeted a busy central shopping centre in Dobropillia with a 500-kilogram aerial bomb, killing two civilians and wounding 27 others, according to Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration.
Filashkin reported on his official Telegram channel that the strike struck the commercial heart of Dobropillia, where scores of residents and visitors were gathered. “This was a deliberate hit on a crowded area,” he said, noting that at least 54 retail outlets, 304 apartments across 13 multi-storey buildings, and eight vehicles were damaged.


Rescue operations are ongoing, with firefighters working to extinguish fires and clear debris for search teams. Medical teams have already provided qualified care to all wounded.
Filashkin condemned the attack as another heinous Russian crime and renewed his urgent evacuation appeal: “Civilians must move to safer regions. Protect yourselves and your loved ones!”
By 21:00 local time, casualty figures had risen from initial reports of 14 wounded and one dead to the confirmed toll of two fatalities and 27 injured. According to reports, emergency services, law enforcement and local authorities have been instructed to work together in coordinating a comprehensive relief and recovery operation.
Earlier, it was reported that on the evening of March 7, Russian forces struck central Dobropillia in Donetsk region with ballistic missiles, MLRS and a Shahed drone, killing 11 civilians (including five children) and injuring over 30.
The attack damaged eight five-storey residential blocks, an administrative building and about 30 vehicles, and targeted rescuers in a secondary strike.
