Russia Intensifies Assault on Pokrovsk in Donetsk Region

Russian forces are intensifying their efforts to break through Ukrainian defenses in Donetsk region, focusing their attacks on the towns of Pokrovsk and Kurakhove, according to a spokesperson for the Khortytsia group of forces Lieutenant Colonel Nazar Voloshyn.

Voloshyn emphasized, "All Russian attempts to advance are met with fierce resistance."

The area near Pokrovsk in western Donetsk region has become the focal point of intense combat, as Russian forces mobilize substantial resources to break through towards this crucial logistical center.

Ukraine's Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi recently stated that despite heavy casualties, Russia persists in advancing towards Pokrovsk.

"As of this morning, in the Pokrovsk direction, our defenders repelled 41 enemy attacks in the areas of Panteleimonivka, Novooleksandrivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Prohres, Novoselivka Persha, Umanske, and Yasnobrodivka," Voloshyn stated.

"Heavy battles continue," he added, describing ongoing Russian efforts to dislodge Ukrainian units through ground assaults and intense shelling.

On July 18 it was reported that Ukrainian military positions in the village of Urozhayne, Donetsk region, were destroyed as a result of intense attacks and shelling by Russian forces, so the Ukrainian Defense Forces were redeployed in order to save the lives of military personnel.
