The bodies of 1,000 fallen Ukrainian service members were returned to Ukraine, as reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

According to Russian negotiator Vladimir Medinsky, Russia also received 19 bodies of its own soldiers in return, following repatriation efforts carried out on July 17.

This transfer is part of a broader agreement made during negotiations in Istanbul, where Russia pledged to return around 6,000 bodies of Ukrainian soldiers, Medinsky confirmed.

On June 16, Medinsky reported that 6,060 bodies of Ukrainian soldiers had already been transferred to Ukraine. Russia, in turn, received 78 bodies of its own military personnel.

Medinsky further added that Moscow is prepared to transfer an additional 3,000 bodies to Kyiv in the future.

Previously, it was reported that the bodies of 1,200 fallen Ukrainian service members were returned to Ukraine following repatriation efforts, according to the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
