Russia has unveiled a prototype laser rifle intended for neutralizing drones. The new weapon was presented publicly for the first time at the All-Russian Conference on Protecting Civilian Infrastructure from Unmanned Aerial System Attacks on March 27, according to TASS news.
Developers claim the laser rifle is designed to enhance Russia’s defense capabilities against drone threats, particularly for securing critical infrastructure.
The technology aims to offer a more efficient method of countering drone incursions, addressing the increasing challenge of drone-based attacks, according to Russian state media.
Previously, Russia has announced the testing of a new laser weapon system designed to counter drones. However, footage from the trial raises doubts about the effectiveness of the technology, suggesting that Moscow may be exaggerating its capabilities, Ukrainian military outlet Militarny reported on March 27.
