Ukraine Unveils “Katran” Secret Naval Drone With 1,000 km Range, Armed With Torpedoes and Minigun

The Ukrainian defense tech cluster Brave1 has presented a new multi-purpose naval drone called “Katran”, developed by Military Armored Company HUB.
According to Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation Minister Mykhailo Fedorov on March 25, details of the drone’s missions remain classified, but it has already proven effective in maritime operations.
The “Katran” is designed for autonomous operations in maritime and coastal environments, capable of executing long-range strike and reconnaissance missions. It features onboard electronic warfare capabilities, including automated threat recognition and countermeasure deployment.
The platform uses AI-supported targeting systems, laser threat sensors, and advanced navigation tools to maximize operational effectiveness in dynamic combat conditions.
Praising the innovation, a representative from the Brave1 cluster emphasized that such technologies not only strengthen Ukraine’s defense but also contribute to the development of global military standards.

Earlier, Ukraine’s Magura V5 maritime drone, armed with R-73 missiles, destroyed two Russian Mi-8 helicopters and damaged a third near Crimea on December 31, according to Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence. Russian sources confirmed the losses, and Ukrainian officials noted the strike as a direct response to Russian tactics using helicopters against unmanned vessels.
