Russia Will Not Attend Ukraine's Second Peace Summit, Says Russian Deputy Foreign Minister
Russia has reportedly declined to participate in Ukraine's planned second peace summit, as reported by the state-owned news agency RIA Novosti, citing Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin.
Galuzin characterized Ukraine's efforts to push forward "Zelensky's formula" as "ultimately futile" and criticized “the deliberate disregard for alternative initiatives to resolve the Ukrainian crisis.”
"We reject such ultimatums and have no intention of participating in such summits," stated the Russian deputy minister.
Kyiv intends to invite a Russian representative to the second summit to present a peace plan based on President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's formula and international input. No formal invitation has been issued yet.
Russia did not participate in the first Summit on Peace for Ukraine held on June 15-16 2024 in Switzerland.
Earlier, Bloomberg reported that Kyiv aims to convene a second Peace Summit involving Russia before the US elections in November.
