Russian Army Launches Five Coordinated Attacks in Donetsk Region
Russia escalated activity on another front, launching five coordinated assaults. The attacks target regions around New York, Pivnichne and Pivdenne settlements, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on June 18.
Military officials reported increased Russian activity in the Toretsk direction. The front in this area wasn’t mentioned in prior reports, however, assured that the situation remains under Ukrainian control. “The Defense Forces of Ukraine are controlling the situation and repelling the aggressor,” the General Staff stated.
Simultaneously, on June 17, the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, engaged in frontline combat for over a month along the Kharkiv-Luhansk border, reported intensified Russian attacks aimed at reaching the Luhansk region’s administrative border.
This sector is reported to be one of the most intense areas of the current Russian offensive. Their immediate objective appears to be capturing the settlements of Cherneshchyna and Pershotravneve, followed by Borova.
To achieve this, Russian forces are employing a combined arms assault, utilizing tank regiments, heavy artillery fire, and reinforcements from private military companies. They’ve also been deploying FPV drones, guided aerial bombs, and chemical weapons against Ukrainian forces.
