Russian Defense Minister Arrives to North Korea
Russia’s Defense Minister Andrey Belousov traveled to North Korea with an official visit, reported the Russian Ministry of Defense on November 29.
Belousov was greeted at Pyongyang airport by the honor guard company of the Korean People’s Army and North Korean Defense Minister No Kwang Chol.
The Russian DM later said that “friendly ties between Russia and North Korea are expanding across all areas, including military cooperation.”
Belousov’s visit, highlighted by his discussion of a “comprehensive strategic partnership,” underscores Russia’s intention to bolster military ties in the region. He claimed the partnership aims to “reduce the risk of a new war in Northeast Asia” and contribute to building “a new Eurasian security system.”
Earlier, North Korea was reportedly expanding a key missile production facility that manufactures short-range missiles, which are reportedly being supplied to Moscow.
In addition, a group of North Korean soldiers, posing as “indigenous people” from Russia’s Far East, was fighting against Ukrainian forces in Russia’s western border region of Kursk, reported Anatolii Barhylevych, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
