North Korea Is Supplying More Missiles and Troops to Russia—US Calls on China to Intervene
The United States has revealed intelligence indicating that North Korea is preparing additional arms shipments to Russia to support its ongoing war against Ukraine. Robert Wood, the US Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations, shared this information during a UN Security Council meeting, highlighting the urgent need to address these developments.
“The DPRK is preparing to transfer even more ballistic missiles. We also have information that a large number of DPRK-origin 170mm long-range self-propelled artillery pieces and 240mm long-range multiple rocket launchers are being introduced into the conflict,” Wood said.
According to the diplomat, North Korea has already supplied Russia with over 18,000 containers of ammunition and related equipment, as well as more than 100 ballistic missiles, which have been used in strikes against Ukrainian cities. In exchange for these arms, Russia has reportedly provided North Korea with air defense systems, fuel, dual-use technologies, and other equipment.
Wood emphasized the critical role of China in curbing North Korea’s military support for Russia. “China has both the influence and the capacity when it comes to the DPRK, and it must urgently use this influence to prevent further escalation of the conflict,” he stated.
Previously The United Nations Security Council held an emergency session in response to Russia’s recent attacks targeting Ukraine’s critical infrastructure.
