Ukrainian Man Loses Second Wife in Strike on Kryvyi Rih After Burying First Wife Amid Russian Occupation in Kherson

During Russia’s January 17 attack on Kryvyi Rih in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region, a man named Ihor lost his second wife. He had earlier lost his first wife during the Russian occupation of Kherson in 2022.

Ihor shared his story in a comment to the Ukrainian outlet Svoi.

“Three children struggled deeply with the loss of their mother, and just a few hours ago, they lost another beloved person,” Ihor said.

Ihor’s second wife was killed by shrapnel while in their car. He shared that today was his eldest son’s birthday, and the family was on the way to the market.

Earlier, it was reported that a Russian missile strike in Kryvyi Rih caused significant damage to an educational institution and residential building.

Authorities have confirmed four deaths including three women and one man, with seven others injured. One of the victims, a woman, was killed in her car by shrapnel.
