Over the course of one week, Russian forces launched approximately 550 strike drones, nearly 60 missiles of various types, and more than 660 aerial bombs against Ukraine, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his evening address on January 19.

The President reported that Ukrainian forces managed to shoot down 33 missiles, including ballistic ones, and 311 strike drones, while another 136 drones, used in daily attacks on infrastructure, “failed to reach their targets.”

“Many thanks to all our soldiers, military aviation, anti-aircraft units, electronic warfare forces, and mobile fire groups. However, our constant task remains to further strengthen the defense of our sky,” Zelenskyy wrote.

The President expressed his gratitude to the military personnel, aviation, anti-aircraft units, electronic warfare teams, and mobile fire groups for their contributions to the defense of the country.

Zelenskyy emphasized the need to strengthen Ukraine's air defense systems, stating, “More Patriots for Ukraine means more protection for lives. More long-range capabilities for Ukraine means greater assurance that Russia's war can be stopped.”

Previously, it was reported that Ukraine’s air defense forces recently intercepted a Shahed attack drone from a newly identified series marked as ‘Ъ.’ This discovery, revealed by Defense Express on January 18, verified with photographic evidence, suggests that Russia may have introduced its fourth known series of Iranian-designed drones.
